Panda’s Fortune 2 is everything you would expect from an online slot game. Of course, it has its unique charm that sets it apart from other games, but for the most part, it is a pretty run-of-the-mill slot. Nothing jumps out as bad, but the theme is a little boring and could even be considered problematic in today’s social climate. The same goes for the bonus features; they are fine, but they aren’t anything too exciting. So, is there anything to get excited about with this game?

At Least Panda’s Are Cute

Panda’s Fortune 2 has an interesting feel to it because they don’t shy away from the theme, but they also don’t lean into it in any way. It is clear that the general theme is China, especially with Panda’s taking center stage. However, the board covers up almost all of the background that could be filled with beautiful flora and architecture, which is a mistake. The symbols in this game are not so ornate that they couldn’t have been shrunk down a bit to give the game more ambiance in the background. There are a couple of hanging lanterns that sway in the wind and take your eye off the game for a second, so there is that.

For better or worse, the reels take center stage in this game, which features oversized symbols on a three-row, five-reel board. You will quickly notice the traditional playing card symbols that are made to fit the game with a sharp font that is reminiscent of ninja swords. You will also find an assortment of brightly-colored symbols that are all closely associated with Chinese culture, like Koi fish, Bonsai trees, dragon statues, multiple different color butterflies, and pandas.

In a rare situation, the music may actually be better than the game itself. There is an interesting fusion of what sounds like traditional Chinese mandolin music played on a newer instrument, perhaps a steel guitar. It adds a richness and quality to the music, making it both soothing and attention-grabbing. The sound effects are fairly mundane, but the sound of the reels stopping sounds like a galloping horse, making the reveal slightly more exciting. Either way, the sound effects are drowned out by the music for the most part, so if you keep the music on, you’ll barely notice them anyway.

Features For You

This game is clearly meant to be enjoyed more than it is to be played, but that doesn’t mean the developers left you high and dry regarding its features. The first feature is the wild symbol, which is represented by the adorable panda. This symbol can replace every symbol on the board except the bonus symbol. One more notable feature of the wild is that the blue Panda never appears on the first reel, but the gold panda will. Gold-colored symbols have the same value as their counterparts but come with random multipliers.

There is only one other bonus feature, but it's a big one. The bonus symbol is represented by and image of the recognizable yin and yang image. If you land three of these anywhere on board in a single spin, you are automatically awarded twelve free spins. During each free spin, if a golden symbol lands in a spot, that spot will be marked gold for the rest of the spins, and only gold symbols will land there, increasing your odds of bigger payouts with built-in multipliers. If you land another three yin-yang symbols in a single spin during the free spins, it will tack on another eight spins to your original twelve. While it would be nice to have at least one smaller bonus feature to keep the game exciting, this one is definitely worth rooting for.

Come With an Open Heart and Mind

There is much to be desired with this game, but if you come from an entertainment perspective and not one that's all about the bottom line, you may like it. There is no questioning that the shimmery, oversized symbols are gorgeous; however, it would have been nice if they had put the same effort into the background. The music is also on another level, so this game is a treat to the senses. It doesn’t offer much in the way of special features, but its main feature is a free-spin bonanza with some added benefits, so you can’t be too mad there. Overall, this is probably not the best game for serious players, but if you are a weekend warrior or are looking for some downtime versus guaranteed wins, you might find that Panda’s Fortune is the exact game for you.
